Why should people get to know me? (How many words is that?)
I think I'm strong-willed, passionate about many issues and people, intelligent in some areas but also willing to admit fairly thick in others. Happily, the things I don't understand aren't important ;-) (Joking, I love to discover new subjects and at least attempt to care).
I really, really don't like football. Otherwise, I have lots of interests and hobbies, largely art or history-based. I find a trawl through online newspaper archives about the most fascinating thing in the world - if that sounds boring, you probably need to move onto the next profile!
I do also enjoy being outside but gentle walks rather than hiking.
I have been widowed, but not making it my full-time occupation. I want to have a happy life that, though respectful of good memories, isn't stuck in them.
It occurs to me, somewhat belatedly, that presenting myself for approval is so far from my personality as to be almost dishonest. I don't do pouty pics or girly laughter at your every word. I do beach walks and enjoy sunsets but most likely to be in sensible footwear rather than stumbling in heels.
I do love makeup and pretty frocks, but squirm at being "treated like a lady", whatever that means. I'd rather be treated like a friend. If we're friends we treat each other respectfully.

Someone who bothers to smile in their pic. Preferably a person who doesn't whine about ex-wife or partner letting him down etc. in their profile. Oh and if you say you're divorced, please be divorced.
I have one child, not a little'un and not in need of a father (he has one) but rather a friendly mate sort of person, assuming you meet.
I'd like to have someone to talk to. You don't have to share all my interests, but we should be able to communicate. A sense of humour would be lovely, actually quite necessary. Not looking for relentless clowning, but an appreciation of life's lighter moments would be - er - appreciated.
I've been married to two high-achievers so can truthfully say I appreciate intelligence but am not impressed by job titles. I would rather have someone happy in their life than stress-driven.
I really have no clear "ideal", though I've ticked boxes that suggest otherwise. Deal breakers include being intolerant of other cultures or mean to animals.
