I love socialising, entertaining & having interesting friends. They view me as being a good host & I am told I am a good cook as well as always pouring an excellent G&T! For me, entertaining is fun.
As well as being of a friendly disposition, many view me as a helpful person often asking my advice on things they are not sure about due to some of my knowledge & experiences. They also say I am a great organiser of social events & get togethers.
I have travelled considerably both when working & for leisure. Have done several cruises.... mainly transatlantic crossings. Fun for me is getting to visit friends who live abroad & having them stay with me.
I like good things in life. As well, I am keen to do things that I have not done before.
I take a great interest in consumer affairs & have worked professionally in that field as well as having government public duty appointments to various consumer organisations including consumer advice roles in the USA.
The majority of my working life has been involved in public health education working at national and international levels. I was awarded a Fellowship from the Royal Society of Public Health as well as one from the former Institute of Home Economics. I was fortunate through competition, to be awarded a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship that took me to Australia, Canada and America.
My government role in the USA involved managing a programme that investigated complaints concerning residential nursing homes and also provided advocacy support for its residents.
I returned to the UK six years ago after living & working in the USA for 14 years. In the last four years I have become more involved with various groups, and committee work which particularly supports the Wickham Parish Council and the Hampshire community. So always busy.
I maintain my love for peeping around corners to see what is there. When that desire stops then perhaps I will no longer be very interested in life. So far that curiosity has held me in good stead!
