About him
I am a droll and no-one should take me too seriously. However I am serious when it comes to finding a partner with whom I could share my remaining years. I have been a widower for three and a half years. I was married for 47 years and I yearn for someone to be the centre of my world again and give meaning to it. Preferably it would be with someone who is at least half educated like me, intelligent therefore, and erudite. If they can make me laugh as well that would be even better. I currently share my life with a cat and a few loyal and supportive friends. I make friends easiIy. I am generally up for anything and I miss going on foreign holidays, visiting art galleries and museums in particular, abroad and in this country, and just travelling around. I have a very nice car and I like driving. I am quite fastidious in my personal habits and dislike untidiness. I like clothes. Prospective partners do need to be aware that I am a railway enthusiast (not a train spotter), something I have been unable to shake off since the age of 13. I also have various collections of vaguely 'blokey' type things like cigarette cards. I am very generous to those I love and donate to various charities. I am interested in current affairs and politics in particular. I am not a sports fan but I am an accomplished swimmer and still swim 1250 metres three times a week. Despite having a couple of health issues I am therefore still fairly fit for my age. Neither of the health issues are psychological in nature, despite my photographs. I live comfortably in a semi with a large landscaped garden which has been rather let go recently. If you have horticultural interests / skills you will be very welcome. I am a decent cook and would be happy to do that for the two of us as I did for my wife during her declining years. Personally, I am a socialist, republican atheist. I am not intolerant of others' views but you may have to put up with some gentle leg pulling over them.

You need to be honest and up front but above all loyal. You can be a bit miserable if you like and a healthy dose of cynicism would be positively welcomed. Ideally I would like you to be a swimmer so that we could enjoy that activity together.
