I would describe myself as happy, easy-going, caring and dependable as well as slightly on the quirky side! I like people who are like me - straightforward, honest and dependable, but who also like to enjoy life and laugh whenever possible! I started a full time degree in my mid 50s and though it is hard work it is very rewarding and I love the mental stimulation. I live alone by the sea and enjoy going for walks on the beach - I really hope to have a dog one day when circumstances allow. I like eating out, going to the theatre or cinema and visits to historical sites, museums, castles, old houses and heritage railways. At home I like to relax by crocheting, watching TV or a good film and playing computer games. I hope to have a garden again one day to potter about in and relax with a few G&Ts on a lovely summer evening. My outlook is to focus on the positive side of life and look for joy, even in the smallest things. My middle name is Joy and I think it is very apt!

I'll get the deal breakers out of the way - smoking/vaping, right-wing politics and strongly held religious beliefs or ideologies that are intolerant of people's sexuality/identity/lifestyle are all a no-no for me. My ideal partner would need to have a 'live and let live' attitude and a generally positive outlook, who is caring, considerate, easy going and respectful. Ideally, they would have their own friends and interests - I don't think couples should be joined at the hip 24/7, in fact I think it is unhealthy in any relationship. That being said, my ideal partner should be capable of forming a strong commitment and be loyal and faithful to their partner, as I would be too. I would want a potential partner to be a pet lover, especially dogs and cats - I would love to go for romantic walks on the beach with a dog or two running around!
