About him
I’m a successful academic and enjoy leading a team that are mostly less than half my age. I can probably Bore for Britain on 1970s rock and pop (before children came along) but don’t consider myself particularly stuck in my ways (most of my Spotify is from the last few years and I go to see new stuff as well as veterans). I think ‘use it or lose it’ is a good adage form mental and physical well-being – I like my work, going to the gym and outdoor pursuits, and probably don’t turn on the TV much from one week to the next unless Fulham FC (I have season tickets) happened to have triumphed that afternoon, and I want to relive it on MOTD. I still love travelling, particularly to the Far East, where I continue to do bits of work. I’ve voted for all three political parties in my time and use the Economist audio if ever insomnia beckons. I’ve three adult kids, all very well-adjusted and very good company, none living locally.

Make me laugh and I promise to have a go at tickling your ribs too! I think you will probably be working, or have sufficient leisure interests so that you won’t mind that I still choose to do so. You will probably enjoy going down the pub to decompress on a Friday night and like going to gigs, theatre or eating out. You may share interests in cooking, though my eyes are now so crap that I misread the measures, as well as the recipes. You will enjoy travel, but seek something more than the obesogenic fayre of holiday resorts.
