I am intelligent and thoughtful with fading good looks! I attach a lot of importance to being fit and staying slim.
I'm a keen gardener and walker. I also enjoy yoga, tai chi and current events. I have a passion for the outdoors and sunshine.
I have been adventurous alone in recent years as a volunteer in South Africa, Rwanda and India but would love to explore more of the UK with a soulmate.
I have a large circle of good friends whose relationships I value enormously and who are an important part of my life. I am not looking for a crutch but I do recognise that as a woman I have emotional needs which I largely suppress living a life alone. My friends say I am loyal and kind.
My professional background has been eclectic, starting in journalism in the UK and East Africa; television research in London followed by motherhood while undertaking a social welfare diploma which led to working and running a busy south London law centre. High profile voluntary work resulted in a job in education management where I spent 20+ years in London, East and West Sussex before deciding to quit in order to make the best of the so called twilight years.
I used to be politically active but alas am generally disenchanted with the quality of our politicians and lack of real leadership. Now most of my focus is on the environment, healthy living and community involvement. My eight year old grand daughter is my very special person which is probably not very healthy for either of us!

If you are fit and emotionally intelligent that's likely to be a good basis to start this journey. It's not so much what you do or have done that matters but your attitudes and values that count. If you have an optimistic disposition and enthusiasm for living we will have something in common. I guess you would need to share my love of the outdoors.
