About him
I was brought up in a city and spent most of my working life in an office, but I moved to the countryside over thirty years ago.
After retiring I became involved in voluntary work as well as learning many DIY and other practical skills.
In the past I have had horses, dogs, cats and chickens, but now have just one dog.
My main outdoor leisure activities are walking, with and without my dog, the photography of landscapes and wildlife and just enjoying being surrounded by the natural world.
I gave up smoking in 1979 and stopped eating meat six years later. I try to stick to a healthy diet while still not avoiding comfort food entirely!
I am generally active and believe that daily exercise is essential for maintaining health. I meditate and was, before Covid 19 appeared, a member of a local Pilates group.
I spend some time in front of the television most evenings, sometimes watching news and documentaries but more often watching films.
I am positive and optimistic with what I like to think is a good sense of humour.
While not religious I have an instinctive respect for life and the environment.
I have spent most of my life caring for and being cared for and am sure that the good times are better, and the bad times easier to cope with, if shared.
