I’m retired and spend my time rambling, meeting friends, reading, visiting interesting places, listening to music - mainly classical but also jazz and lots of other kinds. I’ve travelled quite a bit and have friends around the world who I enjoy visiting. I like talking about all kinds of things. I don’t expect my friends to like the same things that I do or to share all my opinions. I’m not a perfect person but I am loyal to the people I care about. I love laughing and enjoy a good sense of humour in others. I think I’m an optimist, even in the troubled times we live in.

I like all kinds of people! Important qualities for me are kindness and open-mindedness but beyond these, I may discover qualities in another person that I had never considered. Another person’s interests are not the most important thing, as long as we get on. Nonetheless, enjoying the countryside, wild life, the arts and wanting to know what’s going on in the world are my main interests and it would help to share one or two of these so that we can spend time together doing things we both like. On the other hand I would also enjoy being introduced to new activities. I look forward to being close to someone who is above all a good and loyal friend. However, I am used to my independence and could not give it up completely.
