I am a kind, quirky, creative and optimistic individual who generally enjoys life. I love the countryside as well as going to gigs, eating out, and wandering round antique shops and galleries.
I used to be involved in the design world and I've just redesigned new home. I worked for the NHS for 20 years and now retired, however, I still work part time & privately out of choice.
I have travelled a fair amount and I quite like adventure, as well as just 'hanging out' on the beach, in cafes etc.
These days I could be at my beach hut, swimming (both indoor and outdoor), walking the dog, cooking food for family/friends, wandering around auction houses or galleries, attempting something creative, reading, watching a film, or dancing to loud music in my kitchen. I also have two adult sons whom I love a great deal, and like to spend time with...
I am fascinated by people. I am left leaning, inform myself with current affairs, and significant events involving other cultures. I really care about the environment and try to do my best.
My friends would describe me as compasionate, thoughtful and reflective; conversations punctuated with humour and self deprecation. Sociable; but I also enjoy my own company and I meditate regularly.
I am not interested in celebrity culture or extreme right wing views. I dislike bigotry, narcissism, and violence of any kind.

I would like to develop a fairly close relationship with someone over time. I am looking for a kind, friendly, self aware man, and who would enjoy the very simple pleasures in life - like going for a walk, a cycle ride, a swim in the sea, a conversation, sharing food, listening to music or watching a film. Also someone who brings their own passions into the relationship.
I would like to spend time with someone who likes being in the countryside, or at the beach, and also who would also be comfortable in the big cities, exploring the culture and eating out. However, essentially a person who doesn't mind keeping things simple; cooking at home (with friends), visiting the pub, watching bands and strolling around the local antique/arts/craft shops.
