In Her Own Words
About her
So what am I like, why am I here and who do I think I am? Well, I range from vivacious to pensive, but I have felt stale over the last few months; Year and a half... I have tasted loneliness and now want to feel energised again, to care about someone. To care with the buzz of attraction and the depth of reciprocity.
.Jean Vanier said that, 'our greatest need is to feel that we have value, are worthy and can do beautiful things'. I'd love to connect the prose and the passion...to share beauty of life with someone who stands out from the crowd...
So, some facts: my photo is pre covid.
My children are my joy but they live their own lives.. Conversations feed me...and I love laughter and spontaneous jokes.
I find working with needy adolescents in a recovery centre as an English teacher deeply rewarding. It goes without saying that I love reading; I'm on several books simultaneously, including Tremain's story of a modern-day economic migrant and some Henri Nouwen. I love the arts-If only the theatres could re-open! I love trains too, but train journies just now are a bit tense.
What else? I love pottering in charity shops, gardens, even garden centres. Just pottering is fine.
I also love finding out about the human mind.
A lovely man I taught - differently wired to most of us- had a radiant smile that taught me that to love someone is for their happiness to be the same as your own.
Henry Moore's Sheep Sketchbook moves me deeply. So does all kinds of music. Baroque music, Schubert, Mozart, Leonard Cohen, Voces 8. Art: Rothko, Matisse, Vermeer, late Rembrandt, Since lockdown, growing tomatoes has become another passion! The potatoes are on a learning curve!
On a dating site it's all too easy to stay a silhouette. Let's flesh out the outlines.
About her ideal match
I am looking forward to trusting you, laughing with you, and sharing what matters with you. It's a good experience to have had, being alone, though Lockdown was challenging, but I miss company. Being alone feels too much like a test, like being in the wilderness. It limits one's horizons. I'd like to see them opening.
I'm open to anyone kind, funny and able to make me laugh at least once a day. Warmth is vital. I want to be with someone who sees a relationship as a dynamic journey into deeper integrity and authenticity. Some intellectual affinity would also be good. Most important is that you should know how to love, be happy with differences rather than strive to be a clone of me. Bounce comments off me, listen, respond, have that light in your eyes. Energy in your voice, integrity in your actions.
It could get rather exciting. 'The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed'(Jung). 'I change you as you unfold and you change me as I unfold'. Beatrice Beebe, a researcher and psychotherapist.
All I know is that 'We are made for loving. If we don't love, we will be like plants without water.'
- Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize winner. Famous, among many other things, for his smile.
