Internet dating has its pit falls as I have found out already but I am still optimistic Please note that I don't lie about my age like some women or even men, as I recently discovered. But 73 (!!!! can't believe myself that I reached that age) is the new 63, isn't it ? As I am quite healthy and fit (apparently with good genes : my parents died at 97 and 89 respectively) and do enjoy life, I don't intend to remain on my own if I can possibly help it (having been widowed in July 2011 after more than 41 years of marriage).
Maybe I'll even live "dangerously" or age "disgracefully" - might be more interesting, don't you think ?????
Since I consider myself fortunate in many ways, I do my best to help others by doing some charity/voluntary work and contributing to other good causes.
I do enjoy cooking and going out to cozy small restaurants or to pubs, cinema, concerts, antiques fairs etc.
I am fairly easy going and relaxed and have the motto "live and let live". I am very loyal to all my friends and genuinely interested in their lives and problems. However, friends can't replace a loving partner and I still feel young enough to start another relationship with someone special who is prepared to give and take and who sees the good things in life as I do and who could also put up with the trials and tribulations of everyday life !
I adhere to Oscar Wilde's quote : Be yourself, everyone else is already taken !!!

About her ideal match
My close family are living near Tenterden in Kent, in Harrogate, London and Vienne in France. My little redheaded (and temper to go with it) granddaughter and grandson are an absolute joy to me and I see them and the family as often as possible (courtesy of the Eurostar from Brussels to Ashford) since my main residence is in Brussels (Belgium). I babysit at the drop of a hat and get over to Kent quite frequently.
My future partner should hopefully join me whenever he can in my social life in Brussels and be at ease in an international mainly English speaking environment.
Should crossing the channel prove to be too daunting for you, I could come over to the UK quite regularly. In fact I am thinking of renting a furnished apartment for a while in Kent (Rye or Tenterden) in the New Year.
As far as I am concerned, living for a few months in the UK or relocation to England is not totally excluded. It all depends ....!
As I have plenty of time to travel nowadays, my partner should also like going on city trips and maybe explore other countries and enjoy walking, even cycling (!) , cinema, concerts, exhibitions, antiques fairs, i.e. the usual spectrum of social and cultural life.
Common interests would obviously be an advantage but on the other hand I wouldn't mind starting to take an interest in his hobbies.
Main criteria for me is that my partner is kind, gentle, affectionate, reliable, honest, generous and also flexible and not stuck in a rut, i.e. ready for new adventures. Making me laugh or smile as often as possible is most important. I think I can guarantee that I shall do the same for him of course !!!! A "coup de foudre" would be great but on the other hand maybe just getting to know one another slowly might also be a sensible idea.
